Aupeer is 6 Months Old!

Aupeer CIC was created out of nothing but instinct, personal experience and a drive to make change. In six months with we have went from nothing to:

  • 2 peer support groups.

  • 34 autistic peers registered for peer support with Aupeer.

  • 57 peer support sessions delivered.

  • 1500+ people reached from around the world through our social media platforms, blog and website.

And one national award from MIND and the Marsh Charitable Trust for our delivery of mental health peer support.

We have been guided by our mission:

We will strive to reach our vision of better life and health outcomes for autistic people in Cumbria and the UK through the provision of accessible and impactful peer led support informed by lived experience where autistic adults receive the support, respect, and opportunity that they deserve and need to thrive, while simultaneously stimulating change and promoting hope, connectedness, and empowerment.

It's been tough and many spoons have been used! Yet it has also been infinitely rewarding and we can only hope that we have brought support and connection into the lifes of our peers. I always say it, but our peers are the people who make it happen and provide the support, we provide the platform only. So thank you to you all!

Thank you also to all our supporters including Cumbria County Council for their funding support through the Community Grant fund.
