Aupeer runs Autistic-Led Peer Support Groups for Autistic Adults

Run by Volunteers

Aupeer CIC is proudly autistic-led and entirely run by volunteers. Every group we offer exists because autistic people freely give their time to support their peers,

We give our time freely, without pay, to create safe and supportive peer groups for autistic adults.

Community, not profit

As a Community Interest Company (CIC), everything we do is for community benefit - not for profit. Any money we receive goes straight back into the organisation, and supporting as many peers as we can.

How Aupeer provides this

At Aupeer CIC, everything we do is built on one important principle: autistic adults supporting autistic adults.

All of our peer support groups are facilitated by autistic volunteers who give their spare time.

This is what makes us different. We understand each other because we share lived experience, and we choose to use our time and energy to create safe, supportive spaces for other autistic adults.

Why rest matters

Because Aupeer is 100% volunteer-led, looking after our own wellbeing is just as important as supporting our community.

Many of us know how vital peer connection can be, and how draining life can feel without it. But we also know that autistic energy is not limitless.

Burnout is real, and we are careful to prevent it within our team.

Taking regular breaks helps us stay well-rested and able to offer groups that are safe, authentic, and sustainable.

Regular breaks

We build planned breaks into our calendar so that our team has time to pause and recharge.

These are:

  • 2 weeks in March

  • 2 weeks in June

  • No groups in August

  • 2 weeks in December (Christmas & New Year)

Peer subscriptions costs are adjusted appropriately at the start of the month.

Testimonials

I like that its inclusive as in you don't have to have your camera on and that messages in chat are valid. I like hearing about other people's experience. I think the response from the facilitators are always validating and appropriate.

Just join and listen if you are not comfortable at the start. You don’t have to contribute or talk until you are ready. Just listening to others really helps.
